1. Do you make only the master designs and layouts, or do you also print them?

2. What is the difference between desktop publishing and graphic design?
Desktop publishing takes many forms today. Secretaries do it using Microsoft Word to make Xerox masters; graphic designers use professional layout software and send to printers for more professional appearing work. Graphic designers also are expert in layout arrangements and image optimization for printing.

4. How do you prepare pictures for printing?
Pictures that you give us are input, if not already in electronic format, by a photographic quality scanner. The images are sized to fit the layout, its resolution optimized to match that of the output printer, and enhancements such as color correction, addition of graphic elements, and captions are added before dropping it into the layout. All pictures and files are returned to you in original condition.

5. When and how do I receive proofs for editing and final approval?
Proofs are either sent to you by email in proof PDF format, or printed out full size and delivered to you. You may mark up these proofs with changes or corrections and return them for a final proof to be made. Once this final proof is signed off, printing can be done.

6. How long does it take to get proofs and final printing?
It depends on the size of the job. One page layouts takes one day for proofing and the printing one week by local printers. Larger, multiple page layouts that are sent out to out of town printers for four-color process work can take up to four weeks. Special jobs such as a limited number of posters or fine art reproductions are done in house and can be done in less than a week.
